The Android OS is one of the biggest innovations of the 21st century. Gone are the days when you needed to download audio tracks on your computer and then transfer them to your mobile device or, the now redundant, MP3 player. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of 10 apps that we found most efficient at downloading music tracks straight to your mobile phone.
Please keep in mind that due to strict regulations, most of these apps are not officially licensed to provide downloadable music, which is why most of them may be unstable and crash from time to time. Some of these apps will be readily available on the Play Store, while others will have to be downloaded as installable APK files from third-party websites.
1. 4shared Music
Once conveniently available on the Play Store for download, this app has now been discontinued and removed from their catalogue. This doesn’t mean that 4shared Music doesn’t work as well as it always has. This app is undisputedly one of the most convenient for downloading music on Android devices. The user interface is clean and simple, and it has access to millions of tracks uploaded to the 4shared network. You will almost always find the music track you are looking for. Found tracks can either be streamed through the app, or downloaded and saved on the device. If you create an account, it will also give you 15GB of free online storage space to backup your music and access it anywhere with an internet connection.
2. Free Mp3 Downloads
Free Mp3 Downloads is what you should opt for if you don’t want to offend the law. It only gives you access to stream and download high quality music that is licensed under “free to use”. If you are one of the extra cautious ones, you will take comfort in the fact that this app provides completely genuine free-to-own tracks, and you wouldn’t be violating any copyrights by listening to or saving these tracks on your device.
3. Music Maniac Pro
Donning a simplistic design, Music Maniac Pro is faster and more efficient than some of its counterparts. It allows you to search for and download the track you are looking for through various search engines. It’s a very undemanding app, merely 12MB in size, with a tidy user interface, which won’t engage a lot of your device’s resources.
4. Music Mp3 Download Free CopyLeft
Music Mp3 Download Free CopyLeft claims to let you download any kind of music for free. But because it only gives you permission to stream and download tracks that come under the Creative Commons License, you won’t be able to access most of the latest and popular copyrighted tracks. Even so, the database holds a huge number of tracks across various genres so you will always have something to listen to. It also allows you to cache the tracks for offline use, which you can play even without an internet connection.
5. Google Play Music
Google Play Music, as any Android user must know, is Google’s official music application, available readily on the Play Store, exclusively for Android devices. Although most of the music needs to be purchased, or the user needs to opt for a monthly subscription, a lot of tracks are made available for free every day. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may be able to own a track you’ve always wanted, for free. Since it is an official app, it is one of the most convenient apps to download music. Unfortunately, Google Play Music is only available in selected countries, and their database or services can’t be accessed everywhere.
6. SuperCloud Song Mp3 Downloader
Another addition to our list is this simple but effective music downloading app. Being only 2MBs in size, SuperCloud Song is very light and doesn’t consume a lot of device’s resources. Search for music by entering artist’s name, album, or the song title, and you’ll be provided with a list of results to choose from.
SoundCloud is a popular open-source music sharing platform that works a lot similar to YouTube, where users can upload their own compositions and variations of popular songs. The app is smooth and efficient, the sound quality is great. It will allow you to stream most tracks online, and download songs that can legally be downloaded for free. If you have signed in with your account, you can add the tracks you’ve come across before to your playlist. It also gives you free online storage space, to which you can upload your tracks and access them on the go.
8. Mp3 Music Downloader
Readily available on the Google Play Store, Mp3 Music Downloader gives access to free-to-own music tracks, so you won’t be infringing on any copyrights. Although riddled with adverts, using this app is fully legal. You can download straight to your memory card, saving up your device’s internal storage space.
9. Music Paradise Pro
This is another nifty little app that lets you download music tracks, ringtones, and sound effects for your mobile device. Music Paradise Pro’s smart programming enables it to search for your required soundtrack with remarkable ease in a matter of seconds. The overall experience of using the app is very smooth, with clean user interface, and short download times.
10. GTunes Music Downloader
With an app size of just 1MB, GTunes Music Downloader does what it says. It boasts a very straightforward interface and promises an easy way of searching for and downloading music across various search engines. It also lets you preview a track before downloading, to see if that’s what you’re looking for.
And that’s the full list. Hopefully, you found it helpful and are already checking out the apps! If, however, downloading is not your thing, there is another option – music streaming services. They will provide you with an unlimited supply of new music, can be customized to your liking, and are available both online and offline (although this particular detail may depend on the service in question).
